This body of work delves into the interplay between spaces, shapes and lines, examining how seemingly simple linear elements can unify and harmonise a composition. Solid assertive lines are thoughtfully juxtaposed with areas of shading or transparency, creating dynamic contrasts. These lines guide the viewer’s gaze across the canvas, like a trail of footprints imprinted in the sand, offering a sense of movement and continuity. While the paintings convey a delicate softness, they also have an underlying strength, characterised by bold contrasts and carefully balanced compositions.
I was inspired by the idea of one shape floating and yet grounded in an open area. Like a planet floating in space but with grounding force of gravity. I am drawn to contrasting colours and opposites and often use a complimentary colour palette.
A constant element in my paintings is the bright luminescent pink which I love in contrast to the calmer neutral colours. Flowing lines have become a component as natural as my signature. They are integral in connecting and drawing attention to certain areas of the paintings.
