After a bit of a quiet period my instagram seems to be on a roll again with a lot of new followers recently!

👋 hi!

I’m Jaime, a Zimbabwean-born South African abstract artist now living in Stuttgart.
I’m represented and work with the wonderful @thetravellingartgallery having exhibitions all over the world.
I have always been creative, but have been working as a professional full time artist for the last 5 years.

My husband and I have an incredible 7 year old daughter.

I love fishing and photography.

My favourite colour is green.

My paintings are bold and colourful and have developed a lot over the years but I maintain a distinct style and a few signature colours and mark-making. I need there to be calm in the chaos and a real sense of dimension.

I was late-diagnosed with ADHD at 36.

I just turned 40 and am more comfortable and confident in myself than ever before, but am still an introvert.

We have a Vizsla who drives us crazy but we still love him!

My birthday, Easter, school holidays, friends visiting from Berlin… it’s been an incredible crazy fun few days!

I still feel as though I am processing everything 😁 and it must had been a great party when you end up dancing in socks with a few close friends laughing till you cry 😝

It feels strange to be so out of control..

I’ve been playing and experimenting with rust-painting. Learning which different metal paints react with which different solvents.. and then just letting chemistry do its thing.

Leaving the studio and coming back the next day to some wonderful discoveries! Pushing the boundaries of chemical reactions and creativity.

I’ve got the mountains on my mind.

What I saw and felt in this painting before the holiday is very different to what I see and feel now!

My body is happy to be back in the studio but my mind is still soaring in the mountains.

The only thing more powerful than hate is love .. no truer words spoken!

I’ve never watched the SuperBowl, but I do enjoy watching the half time show highlights the next day.. and this year what I enjoyed even more was watching “Latina Halftime Show Reaction Videos”
The pure joy and excitement people shared..! 🥰
It made me so emotional!

I think this Half-time show created a sense of unity and togetherness not only to the Americas but the whole world.

Expressing myself and my creativity is who I am at my core and accepting this has been a big part of my journey.

Another Monday! …let’s go!

Time is flying … friendly reminder to stop and breathe and be grateful for things in your life despite the world being in a dark and stormy time.

Today I am:

• I’m grateful for the leaps and bounds improvement our reactive dog is making through muzzle training

• I’m grateful for my daughters teachers because she actually loves learning and going to school

• my studio space where I am able to create and be free and love doing my job

This year is going to be about appreciating the small things and saying thank you.

Often a simple line or brushstroke can connect and balance a painting in the most perfect subtle way.

Sometimes a bold mark can be eye catching and provocative.

These marks are as authentic as my fingerprint as they glide across the canvas.

Inspired by @fiance_knowles I decided to expand my creativity over the Christmas period when I wasn’t in the studio and ‘stitched’ a mini of one of my paintings 😁

It was a totally fun way to keep in my creative flow and yet using what felt like the opposite side of my brain!

D I have a totally new appreciation for the amount of time and thread that goes into embroidery and stitch-work! Respect! 🫶

Being drawn to the more natural and calming blue / green tones - maybe my subconscious is trying to subtly calm me down despite the negativity of the world.

First official work day of 2026! So by default first painting 😁 I’m not sure I’m ready to call it finished though. Almost.

I’ve seen a few artists talk about how difficult it is to start up again after a break.. and I’m totally in that space too - a little lost and very overwhelmed by the infinite possibilities!

I want to simplify my process but still keep it authentically mine.
Today was the first hurdle of just starting!

I spent the last 2 days of 2025 cleaning my studio - a physical as well as mental end of the year. Preparing the space for all the new wonderful ideas and creativity of 2026.

I also gave myself a little sketchbook exercise to get back into painting - it feels like I haven’t painted in weeks!
Limited palette, limited time, no stopping and no pre-thought.

I felt useless 😅 I didn’t know what I was doing and felt very awkward! But I realised that’s a great space to be in going into 2026 - no complacency no constructed ideas of how I’m “supposed” to paint, or what things are supposed to look like…
A reminder to be connected to my process and emotions and the way it feels when I paint, my authentic self.

I think my word of 2026 will be acceptance.
